Nucor tries for $30/st plate increase
US steelmaker Nucor is attempting a $30/short ton plate price increase, Kallanish learns from a company announcement.
The increase is effective immediately on all carbon, alloy and heat-treated plate. A source close to the matter says the increase is based on scrap prices, rising oil prices, upcoming trade cases and weakening mill margins.
