Nucor plans $40 million Kankakee upgrade
Nucor plans to invest $40 million to upgrade its Chicago-area Nucor Steel Kankakee bar mill, Kallanish learns from a release by the Economic Alliance of Kankakee County.
The bulk of the money will be used to install a new continuous caster, the release says. Nucor is in the midst of a concurrent, additive $180m merchant bar expansion at Kankakee, slated for start-up by year-end.
