Nucor to pick up $29m Texas plate mill
US steelmaker Nucor plans to buy Joy Global’s Longview, Texas, plate mill for $29 million, Kallanish learns from a company announcement.
The Joy Global mill has an annual capacity of 180,000 short tons with heat-treating capabilities. The mill can produce plate up to one foot thick and up to 138 inches wide.
Nucor’s annual plate capacity is currently about 2.9m short tons/year.
