Nucor orders 500,000 st/y bar mill
US steel producer Nucor has ordered a new 500,000 short ton/year merchant bar mill for its Nucor Steel Kankakee plant in Illinois from industrial services company SMS group, Kallanish reports.
The line is expected to begin production in 2019, utilising billets ranging from 6.25-inches square to rectangular 5.5 X 11.5-inch product.
