Nucor joins US plate price push
US steel producer Nucor has lent its weight to the push for higher plate base prices, Kallanish understands.
Effective immediately, Nucor is raising its base prices for all carbon and alloy plate products by $50/short ton. This is roughly in line with increases of $40/st announced by ArcelorMittal USA and SSAB.
Immediately prior to the increases, Kallanish put A36 plate at $540-560/st, ex-works, domestic mill.
