Nucor doubles Gallatin capacity with $650m expansion

US steel producer Nucor is planning a $650 million expansion of its Nucor Steel Gallatin flat-rolled works in Ghent, Kentucky, Kallanish reports. The expansion will nearly double the works' capacity from 1.6 million short tons/year to 3m st/y. Concurrently, the works will increase its maximum coil width to 73 inches.
