Nucor buys thin slab caster for Brandenburg mill
Nucor has picked industrial equipment supplier SMS group to supply a 1.6 million short ton/year thin-slab caster for its new Brandenburg, Kentucky, plate mill, Kallanish learns from an SMS release.
The company says the caster will be one of the largest in the world. Financial details were not disclosed. Nucor has previously said the Brandenburg facility carries a $1.35 billion price tag.
