NS BlueScope to buy YKGI plant
NS BlueScope Malaysia, part of a joint venture between Australia’s BlueScope and Japan’s Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metal Corporation (Nippon Steel), has singed an agreement to buy the Klang plant from YKGI Holdings for $42 million. The move takes NS BlueScope Malaysia upstream but it will still require hot rolled coils, likely supplied from BlueScope’s Port Kembla and from Nippon Steel in Japan, Kallanish notes.
