NLMK Lipetsk begins BOF capacity expansion work
NLMK’s Lipetsk plant has begun revamping energy infrastructure and gas treatment units at its BOF meltshop no.2. The work is part of a large-scale upgrade of blast furnace and BOF operations at the steelworks, NLMK says.
The project will increase BOF shop 2’s liquid steel capacity to 10 million tonnes/year from 8.5m t/y, as well as cut specific air emissions by -5% by 2020. It will also enable the use of BOF gases in captive power generation.
