Nippon Steel gains interest in Elk Valley operations
Nippon Steel has entered an agreement with Teck Resources to acquire a 10% interest in the company's Elk Valley steelmaking coal operations in Canada. Kallanish understands that under the terms of this deal, the companies plan to spin Elk Valley's operations off into a separate privately-traded company that will supply steelmaking coal to Nippon Steel.
