Nippon nabs Gulf of Mexico pipeline contract
Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) and Mitsui & Co. have secured a contract for 600,000 short tons of large diameter pipe and plate for a pipeline linking Brownsville, Texas, and Tuxpan in Veracruz, Mexico.
The 780 kilometer pipeline is being built by TransCanad and IEnova to transport natural gas from offshore drilling sites in the Gulf of Mexico to on-shore power generation facilities.
