Newport steel exports near 1 million tonnes
The Port of Newport remains the UK’s largest steel port, having exported nearly 600,000 tonnes more steel in 2022 than all other 14 major steel-handling UK ports combined, says the port's operator, Associated British Ports (ABP).
Citing recent UK Department for Transport figures, ABP points out Newport’s steel exports reached 955,000t last year, which represents 72% of the total UK exported iron and steel products from UK major ports.
