New slab caster supports Metinvest output growth

Ukrainian miner and steelmaker Metinvest increased crude steel output by 13% on-quarter and 6% on-year to 1.94 million tonnes in the first quarter of 2019, Kallanish notes. Pig iron output has fallen only slightly however: by -1% on-quarter and -9% on-year to 1.96mt.
