Myanmar targets Daewoo, Millcon to restart steelworks
The Myanmar Ministry of Industry says it will sign a joint venture agreement with South Korea’s Posco Daewoo and Thailand’s Millcon Steel to operate the country’s idled state-owned steelworks in Myingyan, local media report. The steel plants had been idled after extended losses but the country's steel demand is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years, Kallanish notes.
