Mughal hikes billet production to offset import shortage
Mughal Steel plans to increase its captive power generation capacity in order to support increased billet production to ease a shortage in Pakistan of the semi-finished product.
Pakistani billet imports have declined due to the increase in global prices and imposition of regulatory duties. Demand for locally-produced semis has therefore risen, but the insufficient load of electricity from the grid prevented Mughal from raising production to meet this requirement…
