MMK’s first-quarter production decreases, outlook negative
Russia’s Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) decreased steel production in the first quarter due to the global Covid-19 pandemic, the company says.
Crude steelmaking fell by -2.7% on-year to 3.02 million tonnes due to decreased steel demand and planned repairs at rolling mills, Kallanish notes.
Pig iron output decreased by -1.7% on-year to 2.36mt due to longer planned blast furnace repair work compared to the previous year.
