Minnesota court sends back US Steel water permit
A state court has effectively overturned US Steel’s water permit for its Minntac iron ore mine in Minnesota pending further input from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA).
The agency originally issued US Steel a permit for the site in 1987. It was renewed last year and then challenged by an environmental group, citing potential wastewater effects on nearby wild rice habitat.
