US mill shipments drop in April

US steel shipments appear to have fallen in April, but remain up on-year, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute. US shipments were 7.428 million short tons in April, down -3.4% from March but up 0.7% from April 2016. Cold-rolled sheet shipments fell -3%, hot-rolled sheet shipments fell -5% and hot-dipped galvanized sheet shipments fell -7%. Year-to-date shipments were 30.061m st, up 4.2% from last year.
