China closes below-standard iron foundries
China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced on 7 July that following a series of inspections, a number of existing ironmaking foundries are to be closed, Kallanish notes.
Of those checked, 113 foundries were found to conform to standard requirements but 33 enterprises did not meet standards and will be shuttered. MIIT intends to dispose of all such non-compliant ironmaking facilities which are often at the root of local eā¦
