Middle Eastern DRI output growth accelerates in September
Middle Eastern direct reduced iron production in the four countries covered by worldsteel’s monthly report increased 11% on-year in September to 3.02 million tonnes, Kallanish notes.
The region’s largest producer, Iran, is estimated to have increased production 14% to 2.05mt. Crude steel output that month increased only by an estimated 4.3% to 2mt. This suggests less scrap was used in the steelmaking feedstock mix.
