Middle East steel output kicks off 2017 strongly
Crude steel production in the four Middle Eastern countries covered by the World Steel Association’s monthly report begun 2017 strongly, growing 13.5% on-year in January to 2.57 million tonnes, Kallanish learns from worldsteel.
All four countries recorded monthly growth, a rare occurrence over the last two years. Largest producer Iran saw crude steel output increase 11.3% on-year in January to an estimated 1.52mt.
