Middle East DRI output surges 27% in November
Direct reduced iron production in the four Middle Eastern countries covered by worldsteel’s monthly report surged 27% on-year in November to 2.37 million tonnes.
Largest regional producer Iran led the way with a 22% on-year rise in DRI output in November to 1.43mt, as the country undergoes a huge DRI capacity expansion programme. This supported a 26% growth in crude steel output in November to 1.59mt, which has been driven by increased exports.
