Mid-East to see steep demand slump in 2020
The Middle East and North Africa is forecast to see finished steel demand drop -16.8% on-year in 2020 to 54.8 million tonnes, as a result of the dual shock of the Covid-19 pandemic and falling oil prices, according to worldsteel.
This compares with worldsteel’s previous outlook in June of a -15.2% drop in MENA demand.
