Mid-East DRI output registers rare slump
Direct reduced iron production in the four Middle Eastern countries covered by worldsteel’s monthly report slumped -4% on-year in October to 3.35 million tonnes, Kallanish notes. This was the first output decline in multiple months.
Largest producer Iran is estimated to have increased output 3.3% to 2.48mt, while crude steel output in October is estimated to have grown 7.5% to 2.2mt. January-October DRI output thus rose 14.4% to 24.01mt.
