Mid-East DRI output grows in August
Direct reduced iron production in the four Middle Eastern countries covered by worldsteel’s monthly report grew 12% on-year in August to 3.5 million tonnes, Kallanish notes.
The region’s largest producer, Iran, is estimated to have increased output 17.2% in August to 2.48mt, when crude steel output is estimated to have grown 6.7% to 2.2mt. This took January-August DRI production up 16.4% on-year to 19.13mt.
