Mexico’s May billet production ticks up
Mexican billet output increased sequentially in May but remained depressed compared to a year earlier, Kallanish notes.
According to preliminary data by local statistics provider Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (Inegi), Mexico produced 54,883 tonnes of billet during May. This was up by 2,700t from April but 68.3% lower than 173,104t in May 2023.
Mexican billet sales value in May amounted to MXN 660.6 million ($36.2m).
