Mexico ups steel production, requests more import measures

The Mexican steel industry ended 2016 by improving steel production and consumption compared to 2015, said Guillemo Vogel, president of local steel association Canacero. According to Vogel, crude steel production increased by 3.3% year-on-year, to 18.8 million tonnes in 2016, due to the positive effect of anti-dumping measures imposed by the government and recovery in international prices.
