Metinvest favours steel, pig iron output over semis
Metinvest increased crude steel production in the first half of the year by 10% on-year to 4.35 million tonnes, Kallanish notes.
The Azovstal plant saw steel output rise 9% on-year to 2.24mt due to greater demand. The Ilyich plant increased steel production by 11% to 2.2mt.
Pig iron output in January-June increased by 8% to 4.4mt. Ilyich pig iron production was more by 8% to 2.42mt, while Azovstal increased output by 8% to almost 2mt.
