Metinvest favours pig iron over semis
Metinvest favoured pig iron over semi-finished steel output in the first quarter due to a favourable market situation for the former, Kallanish learns from the Ukrainian steelmaker.
Merchant production of pig iron rose 14% on-quarter in Q1 to 474,000 tonnes, while slab output fell -18% to 313,000t and square billet output was flat at 1,000t.
