Metinvest despatches first new Ilyich slab
Ukrainian vertically-integrated steelmaker Metinvest has despatched the first lots of slab produced on the newly-commissioned caster at Ilyich Iron and Steel Works in Mariupol. These have gone to Italy and Thailand, the company says in a note seen by Kallanish.
Since the caster was launched in late February, it has processed around 375,300 tonnes of pig iron into steel and then into 423,000t of slab, including merchant premium segment material. Several…
