Metalloinvest targets global demand after HBI-3 commissioning
Metalloinvest has commissioned its HBI-3 hot-briquetted iron plant at Lebedinsky GOK during a ceremony attended by Vladimir Putin. The $660 million unit is Russia’s largest HBI plant.
HBI-3 has a 1.8 million tonnes/year capacity, taking Metalloinvest’s overall HBI production capacity to 4.5m t/y. The Russian firm currently has a 40% share in the global merchant HBI market, it claims.
