Metalloinvest caster modernisation to add new billet types
Russian steelmaker Metalloinvest has signed a contract with Switzerland’ SMS Concast for the modernisation of the four-strand continuous casting machine (CCM) at Ural Steel, the steelmaker tells Kallanish.
As part of its modernisation, CCM #1 will be adapted to produce 455mm billets for railway wheels and 300x330mm square billets for rail production. SMS Concast will produce and supply the new equipment. Production is planned to start in mid-2017.
