Metal workers union calls for nationalisation of South Africa steelmakers
The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) has called on the government to nationalise immediately ArcelorMittal South Africa, Evraz Highveld Steel and Scaw Metals.
Also nationalised should be “…the whole value chain of coal, manganese iron ore and chrome, from which profits are exiting South Africa and prices for local buyers remain too high”, Numsa says in a statement seen by Kallanish.
