Mercedes-Benz agrees H2GS procurement, eyes North America arrangement
Mercedes-Benz has agreed to procure some 50,000 tonnes/year of almost carbon-free steel for its European press shops from Swedish start-up H2 Green Steel (H2GS). The carmaker took an equity stake in the prospective steelmaker in 2021.
It has also signed a memorandum of understanding with H2GS with the aim to establish a sustainable steel supply chain for green steel produced in North America for local Mercedes-Benz manufacturing plants.
