Mechel increases coking coal production in May
Russian miner and steelmaker Mechel’s South Kuzbass coking coal company increased coal production in May, the company says.
The volume amounted to more than 1 million tonnes, up by 60% on-year and by 20% compared with April, Kallanish notes. Shipments to consumers reached 753,000 tonnes, up by 43% on-year and 8% on-month.
For the first five months of this year South Kuzbass produced 4.7mt of coal, more by 77% on-year.
