Mechel BMK upgrades wire rod mill
Russian miner and steelmaker Mechel's Beloretsk steelworks (BMK) has overhauled one of its main production units, rolling mill 150.
It produces 600,000 tonnes/year of wire rod, Kallanish notes. The cost amounted to about RUB 90 million ($1.3m).
About 90% of products made at the mill go to further redistribution to the steel wire shops of BMK. The rest goes to the hardware enterprises of the Mechel Group and for export, the enterprise claims.
