Mechel begins output of new stainless steel sheet
Russian miner and steelmaker Mechel has begun production of new stainless steel sheet products at its Chelyabinsk steel plant, the company says.
Mechel will now produce stainless steel sheet 0.8 mm thick and 1.5 metres wide, Kallanish notes.
The new products have high plastic properties, mechanical strength and hardness, the company says. Stainless is consumed by the nuclear, machine-building, metallurgical and chemical industries.
