May import applications drop
May US steel import applications fell by 21.3% compared with April’s preliminary tally, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute.
Citing US Department of Commerce data, the institute puts May import applications at 2.943 million short tons, 2.347m st of which was finished. That’s down -21.3% and -17.9%, respectively, from April’s preliminary count.
