May pig iron output rises, January-May still down
May saw global pig iron output continuing to increase on-month, but the five-month total was still down on-year. Ironmakers produced a total of 116.6 million tonnes of pig iron in May, up 4.2% on-month but down 1.3% on-year, with January-May output down 5.9% on-year at 540.6mt, Kallanish learns from worldsteel data.
