Global pig iron output hits 16-month high
Global pig iron output rebounded considerably in May, reaching its highest level since January 2020, data by worldsteel show. Every country reporting to worldsteel increased output, with very few exceptions, Kallanish notes.
Global pig iron production in May gained 3.5% on-month and 8.3% on-year to 117.3 million tonnes, lifting five-month output 7.4% on-year to 570.7mt.
