US market slow to embrace domestic rebar hike
Domestic rebar mills announced increases in late February, but it remains to be seen if the prices will stick.
Heading into the Spring construction season, demand has not yet provided sufficient upward pressure for buyers to embrace the $20/short ton increase announced last week by Nucor, Gerdau, CMC and Cascade Rolling Mills, Kallanish reports. Some sources say slow sales mean it is too soon for market conditions to support a price hike.
