Marakby commissions rebar mill, returns to billet buying
El Marakby Steel has commissioned its new rebar and wire rod mill, thereby returning to the merchant billet market, a company official tells Kallanish.
The new unit has taken the Egyptian steelmaker’s rebar and rod rolling capacity to 700,000 tonnes/year, in excess of its 400,000 t/y electric arc furnace-based billet capacity commissioned in 2016.
