Marabky Steel to double rebar capacity, exports billet
El Marakby Steel plans to order a new rebar mill in the first quarter of 2017 to take overall capacity of the product to 500,000 tonnes/year, an official for the Egyptian steelmaker tells Kallanish.
The producer recently became self-sufficient in billet after commissioning a 350,000 t/y electric arc furnace-based billet plant (see Kallanish 14 September). It plans to ramp up this billet capacity to 400,000 t/y in 2017.
