Malaysian steel demand to rise: MISIF

The Malaysian Iron and Steel Industry Federation (MISIF) expects apparent steel consumption (ASC) in Malaysia to recover over the next two years, underpinned by an improvement in foreign investment. MISIF president Lim Hong Thye says he foresees Malaysia’s ASC will rise to 7.8 million tonnes in 2022 and 8.5mt in 2023. ASC was 7mt in 2021, rising moderately by 3% from the year before.
