Malaysian steel sector fears gas cost hike
The Malaysian Iron and Steel Industry Federation (Misif) fears the sector could see a MYR 200 million ($49 million) increase in costs as a result of a gas price hike expected from 1 January 2018. Misif recently told Kallanish that steel business costs have increased by around 15% in recent years because of natural gas, electricity and labour costs.
