Malaysia will lift antidumping duties on hot rolled coil, chequered coil, pickled-and-oiled coil products from China and Indonesia effective 9 February, Kallanish notes. The antidumping duties, of 2.49% to 25.4%, were originally imposed from 14 February 2015 until 13 February 2020.

In a final administrative review, Malaysia has determined that the duties no longer apply. The targeted imports cannot be linked to any material injury on domestic industry producing the like product, according to  a statement by Malaysia’s Ministry of International Trade & Industry (Miti). “The imposition of an anti-dumping duty is no longer necessary,” Miti said.

Indonesia’s PT Krakatau Steel had requested the review on the ground that sole Malaysian HRC producer, Megasteel Sdn Bhd ceased output on 31 March 2016 and hence, there is no local production (see Kallanish 15 August 2018).

The products targeted are classified under HS Code 7208.10.0000, 7208.25.0000, 7208.26.0000, 7208.27.1100, 7208.27.1900, 7208.27.9100, 7208.27.9900, 7208.36.0000, 7208.37.0000, 7208.38.0000, 7208.39.1000, 7208.39.9000 and 7225.30.9000.
