Malaysia-origin billet supply surges to Turkey
Turkish billet imports under HS code 720711 jumped 36% on-year in August to 220,680 tonnes, Kallanish notes from Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data. They fell 50,000t, however, from July.
Russia was the main supplier, as usual, with 60,939t, but Malaysia was very close behind with 58,894t. This was down from over 95,000t in Russia’s case a year earlier, while Malaysia supplied zero last year. Bahrain and Oman provided 29,113t and 27,513t respectively,…
