Major Chinese mills cut flat steel prices
Chinese steel futures prices closed down again on Thursday despite showing some strength during morning trading. Chinese steel mills are still announcing price cuts however, further weakening market confidence, Kallanish notes.
On the Shanghai futures exchange, October rebar closed at CNY 2,917/tonne ($423/t), down CNY 14/t while the same contract for hot rolled coil closed flat at CNY 2,954/t.
