Majeed Steels eyes June commissioning for rebar mill
Majeed Steels plans to start cold commissioning of its new 150,000 tonnes/year capacity rebar mill by end-June, a company representative tells Kallanish. The unit will operate under the name Union Steel Industries (USI).
The Karachi-based re-roller’s current rebar capacity is 60,000 t/y. Billet is sourced from local steelmakers as well imported. In the second phase expansion the Pakistani firm plans to install its own induction furnace-based 25-t meltshop.…
