Magang shuts down one 40-t BoF
China’s Ma’anshan Iron & Steel (Magang) completely removed its No. 1 40-tonne converter during the nightime of 31 October, the company says. The converter had supplied its steel longs plant and had operated for 30 years. Earlier in the year Magang shut down one 500 cubic metre blast furnace, losing in total 620,000 t/y of iron and 640,000 t/y of steel capacity, Kallanish notes.
